PRIMARY PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE:

The Associate will be responsible in assisting the Portfolio Manager in the management of existing real estate private equity funds as well as in the research, development, and execution of new real estate investment strategies. The ideal candidate for this position is an individual with a superior analytical skill set, excellent communication skills, a passion for real estate markets, who works well in an entrepreneurial and collaborative environment, and has a desire to grow into a Portfolio Manager.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform macro, market, and sub-market analysis of US housing market including communicating with housing and mortgage research desks across the Street to stay abreast of market, regulatory and other developments
  • Assist the Portfolio Manager in the research, development, and execution of new investment strategies within real estate private equity and credit markets
  • Assist the Portfolio Manager in the management of existing real estate private equity funds, with responsibilities including (but are not limited to): day to day acquisitions, cash management, disposition strategies, capital deployment strategies, reporting and investor calls
  • Track, review and report on portfolio performance, risk tolerances and adherence to portfolio strategies
  • Work closely with Asset Management and Acquisitions teams to execute on portfolio management strategies and decisions
  • Assist in performing detailed review and analysis of portfolio financial statements
  • Build and maintain portfolio acquisition, forecasting, and return models
  • Produce and update investor reporting and assist in building and managing relationships with investors including for fund raising purposes
  • This role will work very closely with the Portfolio Manager, Investment Committee, Asset Management, Finance, Acquisitions, Investors, Lenders, and buyers and sellers of assets and portfolios
PREREQUISITES FOR SUCCESS:

  • Demonstrated academic success with a bachelor’s degree in areas such as finance, real estate, accounting, or other analytical/quantitative fields from a top university; Master’s degree not required but a plus
  • Strong understanding of residential real estate. A minimum of 3 years experience in real estate equity or credit is required. Prior role in real estate private equity, real estate investment banking, mortgage trading will be highly preferred
  • Superior quantitative and analytical skills.  Excellent financial modeling skills including a high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Excel required
  • Ability to create presentations for current and prospective investors, lenders, and internal committees
  • Highly organized, extremely proactive and detail oriented individual with the ability to multi-task and communicate effectively
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS SUMMARY:

  • Status – Full-time Exempt
