Meyer Bergman Americas is seeking a highly-driven individual for a newly-created, real estate investment position to work out of our regional offices in Los Angeles, California or New York, New York. The candidate will be part of an entrepreneurial investment team with strong institutional backing, working side by side with dedicated and deeply experienced executives.

 

The candidate will be an integral member of the Investments team, responsible for identifying and securing acquisition and development opportunities for Meyer Bergman Americas’ urban strategy and achieving clearly defined investment goals.  The successful candidate will run an acquisition process with autonomy, requiring minimal guidance, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present ideas concisely and informatively.

 

Primary Responsibilities/Duties:

 

  • Source/identify investments, evaluate and underwrite a range of value-add and opportunistic investments, utilizing sophisticated financial models and ARGUS software.
  • Price and formulate investment theses, deliver investment committee presentations including proformas, waterfalls, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Manage the acquisition due diligence (internally and externally) process through closing.
  • Build and maintain relationships with brokers, property owners, and potential JV partners.
  • Travel to various, high-growth, national markets to evaluate opportunities and to perform due diligence investigations.

 

Competencies/Skills:

 

  • Extremely strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate conclusions clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats.
  • A high level of proficiency in ARGUS and Excel.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in critical thinking and problem solving, with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task within tight deadlines.
  • Depth of knowledge of key markets in the Western United States.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Strong academic background with a bachelor’s degree in Finance or Real Estate; advanced degree/MBA preferred.
  • Preferred 7-10 years of experience working for a real estate investment firm.
  • Proven background in complex real estate transactions, due diligence, ARGUS modeling and underwriting capabilities.
  • Expertise in mixed use assets (retail, office, multifamily, and hotel), and pureplay retail and industrial assets.
  • Strong broker and owner relationships in active target markets.
