Job Summary:  

outlier is currently seeking a passionate, detail-oriented, and driven individual to join our accounting and asset management team.  

What will I be doing?

Your highest priority will be to provide asset management with detailed accounting review, reporting support, and investor compliance and reporting

Your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Provide primary control over complex portfolio and partnership accounting for outlier managed investments (such as consolidations, waterfalls/hypothetical liquidations, and preferred return calculations)
  • Provide direction as the owner’s representative to third-party property managers for accounting oversight including review of accounting workpapers and monthly reports for completeness and accuracy
  • Manage the investor intake process to ensure complete and accurate records and safekeeping of subscription documents
  • Coordinate the quarterly distribution process for the investment portfolio and lead the internal and external reporting process
  • Manage and maintain core accounting processes and investor records in outlier’s ERP (Yardi)
  • Oversee disbursements and work closely with asset management and development teams to process complete and accurate draw and funding requests for the investment portfolio
  • Assist in the review, maintenance and improvement of the control environment to eliminate errors or emission in reporting
  • Assist asset management with compliance and reporting for lenders and joint venture partners
  • Assist with preparation of each investment’s annual business plan primarily with budgeting and reporting
  • Coordinate year-end tax return preparation and other engagements with outlier’s accountants as assigned
  • Support asset management with prospective equity partner due diligence requests including performance reports and business plan comparisons
  • Special projects and other related responsibilities as assigned

Who will I be working with?

You will report to the Director of Accounting and Asset Management and work in close collaboration with other members of the leadership team, including the CEO.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High-quality work-product and deliverable preparation skills, particularly in Excel
  • Ability to multi-task and produce deliverables in a changing environment with competing priorities; ability to meet deadlines and work with a sense of urgency
  • Receptive to constructive feedback and displays a growth mindset
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher)

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred
  • 3-4 years of experience in commercial real estate or private equity auditing or accounting
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • Database experience and proficiency (direct experience with Yardi software would be advantageous)
  • Exposure to fair value accounting concepts, investment company accounting and NCREIF-PREA Reporting Standards
  • Desire to work in a fast paced and entrepreneurial environment
