Description

ABOUT US | HR&A provides strategic advisory services for clients in the public, private, and non-profit sectors to solve some of the most complex challenges facing cities today. We care about improving the quality of urban life, and we are increasingly focused on the challenges of inclusivity, infrastructure, and technological innovation in cities as we advance public-private development projects that improve economic, environmental, and social outcomes.

We are former public servants, real estate developers, urban planners, city officials, activists, and economists. We are unique in our ability to create value by integrating disparate disciplines for our clients, and we often lead teams with engineers, architects, lawyers, community organizers, and other specialists. We are a tight-knit team that works across the country and around the world from offices in New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, Raleigh, and Washington, DC.

THE ROLE | We are seeking Analyst and Senior Analyst candidates to join our growing team in all offices. Our analytical staff form the foundation of our team-oriented and collaborative structure, and help to drive our data-driven approach to city building.

Analysts own the substance of our client work products. Day-to-day tasks range from project to project, and often include market analysis; case study research; econometric modeling; spatial analysis; preparation of real estate pro formas for a range of uses and public-private structures; organizational planning; and public policy analysis. Analysts also help prepare written reports, presentations, and Excel models for clients, as well as firm marketing materials and proposals for new projects.

Senior Analysts are more experienced analysts, capable of defining and delivering our most complex project work across multiple practice areas and services. Senior Analysts are responsible for exercising independent judgement in designing and planning work efforts, managing and training junior staff members, and ensuring that our analytic tools and methods are at the industry’s leading edge. A typical day may include complex real estate pro forma development, economic modeling and market feasibility testing, fiscal and economic impact analysis, public-private partnership structuring, public policy and program design, coordination with partner firms, or the preparation of client deliverables and proposals. Senior Analysts should expect to manage some projects and work directly with clients on a regular basis.

Both positions provide significant opportunities for growth and diversity within the role as individual project portfolios change. HR&A staff are often generalists, but have the opportunity to specialize over time. Many of HR&A’s senior staff started as Analysts or Senior Analysts.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED | We are looking for candidates with strong quantitative and qualitative skills, a passion for urban development and policy, and a deep curiosity about the challenges and opportunities facing cities today. Our new team members will learn quickly, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; and be able to manage multiple assignments at once. They will think independently, act entrepreneurially, and pay attention to the details. Ideal analysts will bring a demonstrated capacity for leadership, critical thinking, and creativity. Specifically –

Analyst candidates should have a Master’s Degree, or a Bachelor’s Degree, with a focus on economics, urban planning, business, public policy, real estate, political science or other closely related field, and one to three years of relevant full-time professional experience in real estate, finance, planning, consulting, government, or another organization dedicated to making cities better.

Senior Analyst candidates should have a Master’s Degree, or a Bachelor’s Degree with a focus on economics, urban planning, business, public policy, real estate, political science or other closely related field and three to five years or more of relevant full-time experience in a consulting or another analytic environment related to real estate, urban planning, economic development, business, government, or public policy. Preference will be given to candidates whose experience includes project management in a relevant field.

COMPENSATION | We offer competitive compensation packages, based on qualifications and experience.  We are an employee-owned company, meaning you will have the opportunity to benefit from the firm’s growth over time through participation in our Employee Stock Options Plan. Each year, the firm will contribute funds to this long-term wealth-building account, and may make contributions to other retirement accounts. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package that goes well beyond coverage of 90-95% of healthcare premiums, dental and vision coverage.

HOW TO APPLY | HR&A is committed to attracting and retaining a talented, diverse, competitive team of professionals dedicated to solving the challenges of urban life. Women, people of color, members of the LGBT community, individuals with disabilities, and veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.

To apply, please visit HR&A’s website and complete an online application by Friday February 15th, 2019. Please limit your response to two pages (one page resume and one page cover letter).  Applications without a cover lever will be discarded.

All qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment without regard to their race, religion, ancestry, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, medical condition, veteran status or any other basis as protected by federal, state, or local law.
