Excellent opportunity for someone with experience in public/private accounting and private equity to take on increasing levels of responsibility and work in a fast-growing, real estate investment firm.

 

The Director of Fund Accounting will be responsible for the overall management of the financial reporting process, capital call and distribution calculations and notices, quarterly investor reporting, annual audits, fund cash flow analysis and forecast, waterfall calculations. The Director of Fund Accounting also develops and implements solutions to daily accounting issues where procedures may not be well defined. This position will also assist with other functions on an as needed basis and should have knowledge of tax matters and strategies.

 

This role reports to the Managing Director of Finance.

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

•           A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field; CPA preferred but not required

•           At least 8 years of experience in the accounting/finance sector (preferably in private equity, real estate and public accounting)

•           Private equity/fund accounting experience

•           Strong understanding of private equity vehicle structures, including application of waterfalls

•           Strong working knowledge of Yardi Voyager and Yardi Investment Management accounting system a plus

•           Savvy with technology and advanced proficiency with MS-Office products.

•           Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•           Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload effectively

•           Detail and deadline oriented

•           Regular and reliable attendance

•           Conscientious about timeliness of assignments and quality of work product

•           Ability to work in a cooperative team spirit to actively contribute to the betterment of the company

•           GAAP and financial accounting technical skills

•           Strong analytical skills

•           Exceptional work ethic

•           Tax experience a plus

•           Managing and mentoring junior staff

 

Responsibilities:

•           Prepare/review workpapers supporting the monthly close process and month end balances

•           Prepare/review monthly financial statements in accordance with investment company accounting

•           Calculate capital calls and distributions and prepare related notices

•           Analyze and help determine accounting treatment for transactions and investments

•           Monitor adherence to budgets

•           Perform ad-hoc duties and analyses

•           Track key debt agreement requirements and prepare covenant calculations

•           Assist with various company-wide projects to streamline operations

•           Maintain an organized and orderly filing system of all accounting documents

•           Coordinate and lead year-end audit process, including valuations

•           Assist with workpapers needed for tax filings

•           Prepare fund quarterly reports

•           Investor reporting package

•           Assist Investor Relations with information requested by investors

•           Calculate management fees

•           Read and interpret legal documents to ensure accounting treatment is properly applied

•           Develop and mentor staff

•           Ad hoc projects to support other departments
