JOB SUMMARY  

The purpose of this position is to lead and manage DCS transition/start-up programs for data center portfolios.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  

Manages programs responsible for the delivery of functional transition elements within DCS business. The DCS Transition Manager will serve as the primary contact for driving workstreams when starting up or expanding business within the Americas region.

Responsible for training and developing transition/technical process/services to support all transition activity requirements.  In addition, develop DCS transition schedules as required.

Leads cross-functional programs end-to-end using a formal and documented DCS process. Facilitates the development of a program charter and integrated timelines. Accountable to ensure all functions remain on schedule, that issues get escalated and resolved, and that the transition program is completed successfully.

Facilitates regular meetings to review project status for active and pending transition projects. Collaborates with the core team to develop solutions and lead project through implementation and completion.  

Responsible for reporting status of individual and groups of transition projects and programs. Must be able to provide appropriate levels of detail, and also be able to summarize complex issues succinctly.

Manages internal and external relationships in support of program; may contact and manage vendors. May provide consultation on processes that integrate into an organized program.  Position may include the following activities:

 

  • Development of customer reporting
  • Support DCS solutions team for business development activity
  • Leads transitions and all associated reporting/bulletins
  • Completely owns the transition delivery to be ready for Go-live
  • Ability to be detailed oriented
  • Ability to produce reporting and program schedules


Other duties may be assigned.

5 years of data center operations experience, 5 year's experience managing highly critical data center transition activity

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

Manages the planning, organization, and controls for a functional area or department.  This position would not typically manage a direct team.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from 4-year college or university. Minimum four years of related experience. Prior Supervisory experience preferred.


CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
  


PgMP (Program Management Professional) or PMP (Project Management Professional) certifications preferred.


COMMUNICATION SKILLS
  


Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.


FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE
  


Requires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis.


REASONING ABILITY
  


Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.


OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
  


Strong process skills, negotiating, decision-making and analytical skills are necessary. Demonstrated ability in project management processes, tools and techniques.

Ability to build and maintain effective professional/client relationships.

Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite including MS Project.

Decisions made with thorough understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines. Responsible for setting work unit and/or project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to department.
